The Weeknd Blocks Himself From Earning A New No. 1 Single

The Weeknd sits at number No. 1 on more than half a dozen charts in the United Kingdom this week. The global superstar launches his latest album Hurry Up Tomorrow in first place on every tally it reaches.

As the brand new full-length performs extremely well, several of The Weeknd’s other albums rise following the release of his latest full-length. At the same time, a number of the Canadian musician’s singles are also growing in popularity, as it seems interest in everything in his catalog gains, thanks to the excitement of a new project.

The singer-songwriter even blocks himself from scoring a new No. 1, as one of his latest smashes takes another turn in first place on one chart. “Timeless,” the lead single from Hurry Up Tomorrow, bolts to No. 1 on the Official Hip-Hop and R&B Singles ranking. The tune steps up from No. 4 to the summit on the U.K.’s list of the bestselling tracks in hip-hop, R&B, and rap.

The smash, which features Playboi Carti, has now spent seven non-consecutive weeks at No. 1. The tune has lived on the Official Hip-Hop and R&B Singles chart for 19 total frames, and it has yet to fall outside of the top 10. In fact, only one of those stints has been outside of the top five, as it once descended to No. 6.

As “Timeless” surges back to the summit, The Weeknd debuts a new tune in the runner-up space. “Cry For Me” launches at No. 2 on the Official Hip-Hop and R&B Singles chart, and if things had worked out slightly differently, he'd have added a new No. 1 to his growing list of credits.

“Cry For Me” has been singled out as the most popular track from Hurry Up Tomorrow that wasn’t released prior to the album’s drop. The cut has also been selected as a third single from the set, as it's already been sent to radio stations around the world.

Throughout his career, The Weeknd has now landed 28 top 10 hits on the Official Hip-Hop and R&B Singles chart. Seven of those tracks have hit No. 1.

“Timeless” and “Cry For Me” are the only two songs from Hurry Up Tomorrow to appear on this week’s Official Hip-Hop and R&B Singles chart, though The Weeknd does manage to claim a third position on the list at the same time. “Blinding Lights,” which may be the biggest hit of his career, jumps from No. 25 to No. 20, buoyed, in part, by renewed interest in the Grammy winner's catalogue.

Four other songs featured on Hurry Up Tomorrow debut on at least one chart apiece in the U.K. this week. Tunes like “Wake Me Up” with Justice, “Open Hearts,” “Baptized in Fear,” and “Reflections Laughing” with both Travis Scott and Florence & the Machine land on the list of the most-streamed tracks throughout the country, while half of them also become sales wins as well.

Natalie Portman Calls Out Oscars Over Another Year of “Boys’ Club” Best Director Nods

Natalie Portman is back in the awards‑season discourse, this time for calling out the Academy’s 2026 nominations for once again shutting women out of the best director race in a new report on her comments. Despite a year that included acclaimed films from women behind the camera, the directing lineup is once again all male, echoing the criticism she brought to the 2018 Golden Globes stage with her “all‑male nominees” quip. The difference now is that social media is primed to dissect every omissi

Golden Globes Go Fully Online as YouTube Becomes Awards‑Night Home

The Golden Globes are leaning harder into streaming this year, with the full 2026 ceremony and hours of red‑carpet coverage living side‑by‑side on Youtube. Viewers can jump between the official Golden Globes channel, Associated Press’ marathon red‑carpet feed, and outlets like Page Six that are streaming arrivals and backstage interviews in real time. Instead of treating social video as an afterthought, the awards are increasingly programmed like a live‑event ecosystem where entire shows unfold

The game was originally set for a nationally televised slot at Target Center but was moved to Sunday evening after demonstrators filled downtown streets near the arena and the Warriors’ hotel, according to reports from outlets including ESPN. Democrats Clash With Trump Over DHS Funding After Minneapolis Shooting

Senate Democrats are threatening to block the current government funding package unless money for the Department of Homeland Security is changed or pulled in response to this month’s fatal shooting of Minneapolis ICU nurse Alex Pretti by a Border Patrol agent. Minority Leader Chuck Schumer has said Democrats will vote against the DHS bill as written, raising the odds of a partial government shutdown if negotiators cannot agree on new language. The Minneapolis shooting was the third high‑profile
