Drake Reigns as Spotify’s Top Rapper for the 8th Year, Despite “Rap Wars” Feuds
Drake may have faced intense competition in the 2024 “Rap Wars,” but the drama didn’t slow down his dominance on Spotify. The Canadian rapper secured his spot as the platform’s most-streamed rapper for the eighth consecutive year, solidifying his reign in the hip-hop world.
On Wednesday, Spotify Wrapped revealed that Drake came closest to rivaling Taylor Swift’s record-breaking numbers, making him the top hip-hop artist globally and in the U.S. Despite fierce competition from genre giants like The Weeknd and Bad Bunny—who ranked higher overall—Drake led the rap category.
This accomplishment is even more impressive given his heated clashes with fellow stars like Kendrick Lamar, Future, Metro Boomin, and Kanye West, all of whom landed in the top 10 most-streamed rappers of 2024. Kendrick, in particular, claimed Apple Music’s top spot this year, fueled by his explosive diss track “Not Like Us.”
Still, Drake’s momentum shows no signs of slowing. His upcoming 2025 Australian tour is already expanding with additional dates due to overwhelming demand, signaling another massive year ahead.
