The Philadelphia Eagles stormed to their second Super Bowl win on Sunday, demolishing the Kansas City Chiefs 40-22 in New Orleans.

The Philadelphia Eagles demolished the two-time defending champion Kansas City Chiefs to win Super Bowl LIX 40-22 in New Orleans.

The performance saw the Eagles avenge their Super Bowl LVII defeat by the Chiefs two years ago. This is Philadelphia’s second Super Bowl victory.

Jalen Hurts was named Super Bowl MVP.

“Defense wins championships,” he said after the game. “We saw the difference they made and the opportunities they gave us on a short field and we were able to do what we do.”

It was a miserable night for his counterpart, Patrick Mahomes, who was sacked six times and recorded three turnovers as the Chiefs’ hope of becoming the first team in Super Bowl history to three-peat went up in smoke.

Kendrick Lamar meanwhile took center stage during the halftime show. The 22-time Grammy Award winner, who performed his smash hit “Not Like Us”, was joined by frequent collaborator SZA as well as Samuel L Jackson and Serena Williams.

Future Super Bowl host sites

With Super Bowl LIX now in the rearview mirror, it’s time for NFL fans to shift their focus forward, to Super Bowl LX.

This year’s spectacle inside the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans featured the reigning two-time champion Kansas City Chiefs being defeated by the Philadelphia Eagles. The historic battle kicked off the countdown to the NFL’s next era of big games, a stretch that includes a landmark Super Bowl LXI in 2027.

While some may already be wondering if the Chiefs will be there for a fourth straight year, there will certainly be plenty of intrigue still surrounding the next several Super Bowls, regardless of their possible involvement.
