Drake Files Second Legal Petition Against Universal Music Group Over Kendrick Lamar Diss Track

Drake is taking further legal action against Universal Music Group (UMG), claiming the release of Kendrick Lamar’s diss track “Not Like Us” falsely accuses him of serious criminal behavior. This marks the second legal petition Drake has filed against UMG in a matter of days, following previous allegations that the label strategically promoted Lamar’s track in unethical ways.

In the new petition, filed in Bexar County, Texas, Drake alleges that “Not Like Us” damages his reputation by falsely accusing him of being a sex offender, engaging in pedophilic acts, harboring sex offenders, and committing other criminal sexual acts. The petition also accuses UMG of funneling payments to iHeartRadio as part of a pay-to-play promotional scheme.

This legal step follows a separate petition filed on November 25 in the New York Supreme Court. In that filing, Drake’s attorneys accused UMG and Spotify of orchestrating a campaign to manipulate streaming services and radio airwaves in favor of the track. The petition alleges that UMG and Spotify paid influencers to promote the song, bought radio plays, used bots to artificially inflate streaming numbers, and reduced licensing fees for Spotify’s algorithmic recommendations.

The latest legal action marks an intensifying battle between Drake and the major label, further complicating the release of Lamar’s highly controversial track.
