Barbados is cutting its imperial ties and removing the 95-year-old Britain queen as its head of state. After all the final protocols, Barbados will declare itself a republic.
In the last, nearly three decades Barbados will be the first country to do it, the last country that gained independence from the British colony was Mauritius, which happened in 1992.
Guy Hewitt, who has served as Barbados high commissioner to the United Kingdom between 2014 and 2018 said that this decision was coming of age. He later explained by giving an example of a child who eventually grows up and buys his own place to become independent in life.
Analysts have been predicting this decision for a long time now and they have called it a well-thought-out decision.
